99 NAMA TUHAN: AL-AZIM, YANG MAHA AGUNG

Asima – satu nama sufi lain untuk Tuhan. Ini hanya berarti 'yang teragung/terbesar'. Semua itu agung/besar, yang kecil itu tidak ada. Yang kecil tidak bisa ada karena semuanya saling terkait, semua adalah bagian dari yang tak terbatas. Bahkan partikel terkecil sekali pun adalah bagian dari keseluruhan. Partikel tidak bisa ada tanpa keseluruhan dan sebaliknya juga: keseluruhan tidak bisa ada tanpa partikel. Keseluruhan tidak akan utuh tanpa partikel - sesuatu akan hilang, akan ada celah. Jadi bahkan selembar rumput terkecil pun sama besarnya dengan matahari.

Begitu engkau mulai mencari yang agung/besar, engkau akan menemukannya di mana-mana. Engkau tidak akan menemukan satu tempat di mana yang agung tidak ada. Itu adalah salah satu wawasan terbesar dari fisika modern. Dalam mencari yang terkecil mereka telah menemukan sumber energi terbesar. Dalam mencari atom mereka telah menemukan energi atom. Yang kecil hanya tampak kecil, itu hanya tampak luarnya. Ia berisi/memuat yang terbesar.

Dan engkau tidak bisa menemukan yang terbesar secara langsung. Kapan pun engkau mencari, engkau akan menemukan yang kecil: yang kecil adalah cara dari yang besar untuk mengekspresikan/mewujudkan dirinya. Engkau tidak bisa melihat laut - engkau selalu melihat ombak ini atau gelombang itu. Hanya ombak-ombak yang terlihat; lautan tetap tak terlihat. Lautan harus diambil sebagai kesimpulan karena ombak tidak bisa ada tanpanya. Jadi kita melihat bagian-bagian kecil - pria, wanita, pohon, gunung, partikel debu, setetes air; tapi ini hanya bentuk. Tembuslah jauh ke dalam mereka dan mereka menjadi pintu, pintu menuju yang tak terbatas.

Yang tak terbatas itu disebut 'Asima', 'yang teragung/terbesar'. Lihatlah mendalam, di dalam dan di luar, dan engkau akan menemukan Dia.

Asima – another sufi name for God. It simply means ’the great.’ All is great, the small exists not. The small cannot exist because all is interlinked, all is part of an infinity. Even the smallest particle is part of the whole. The particle cannot exist without the whole and vice versa too: the whole cannot exist without the particle. The whole will not be whole without the particle – something will be missing, there will be a gap. So even the smallest blade of grass is as great as any sun.

Once you start looking for the great you will find it everywhere. You will not find a place where the great is not. That is one of the greatest insights of modern physics. Searching for the smallest they have stumbled upon the greatest source of energy. Looking for the atom they have discovered atomic energy. The small only appears small, it is an appearance. It contains the great.

And you cannot find the great directly. Whenever you search you will find the small: the small is the way of the great to express itself. You cannot see the ocean – you always see this wave or that wave. Only waves are seen; the ocean remains unseen. The ocean has to be inferred because the waves cannot exist without it. So we see the small parts – the man, the woman, the tree, the mountain, the particle of dust, a drop of water; but these are just forms. Penetrate deeply into them and they become doors, doors to the infinite.

That infinity is called ’Asima’, ’the great’. Look deeply, within and without, and you will find Him.
